KICK-OFF

Let's brainstorm your ideas: music videos, animated shorts, opening title sequences. You may have a script ready to go, or you would like to develop one together; this part of the process is to get the best possible version of your story on the table so we can start with the animation design.

DESIGN

We will discover what this film can look like by choosing from a handful of techniques I have developed in my studio, including stop-motion, hand-drawn, cut-outs, and rotoscoping. Between emails and zooms, we will create concept art, characters, storyboards, and test renders that give us the best look and design to support your vision.

ANIMATICS

With the script written, the storyboards drawn, and the animation techniques established, it's time to put it all into motion with an animatic sequence: a storyboard accompanied by rough voice overs and audio. The animatic will give us the first sense of timing and editing for the piece.

ANIMATION

Now, I'll roll up my sleeves and get to work. Characters need to be drawn, sets need to be built, and action needs to be animated. It's a lot of work, but every part of the process has rewards. And soon enough, once all the frames are finished, we will sit back and enjoy watching the magic.

SOUND

Last but not least, sound effects and voice overs add enormous texture and impact to animation. Our first step is establishing a raw voice over accompanying the animatic. As the piece progresses, we refine the audio to complement the actions and characters. Once sound effects and voice over are locked in; we can incorporate melodies or bring a composer in to develop a score, adding more emotional layers to the animation.
